Victoria Phsiotherapist Cody Mcevay

Cody McEvay

Canadian Academy of Manipulative Physiotherapy

We are so pleased to have Cody joining our clinic team!

Born and raised on Vancouver Island, Cody has been living in Victoria for over a decade since he moved to the city to complete his undergraduate degree in Kinesiology at the University of Victoria. Following his studies at the University of Victoria, he spent time working in his new Kinesiology field running exercise and recreation programs specialized for seniors both in the community and at care facilities. This work gave Cody valuable experience working with a wide range of abilities and varying chronic conditions of the human body, eventually leading him to seek further training in the field. The end result was him completing a Masters in Physiotherapy at the University of British Columbia in 2020.

A lifelong athlete, Cody has participated in many different sports growing up, from hockey, lacrosse, and rugby, to his ultimate passion of Olympic wrestling. Battling his own injuries during these times, he understands the drive to get back to the activities we love. Whether it’s athletics or just working towards improving function in your activities of daily living, he’s developed a passion for helping other people navigate and improve their physical functioning for their own specific goals.

Cody’s practice and treatment style is centred around empowering clients by approaching each person specific to their own unique situation, goals, and motivations. Client participation is a key aspect of his treatment, as he believes in an approach that focuses on the best available research and evidence in exercise and education in conjunction with his interest in manual therapy and other modalities. The result is a client centred approach to developing a treatment plan that builds self-efficacy and works towards maximizing function at all ability levels.

Outside of the clinic, Cody has shifted his own recreational and sport interests to spending time in the great outdoors that Vancouver Island has to offer. Combining his love of the outdoors with a passion for travel, he has travelled to various parts of the world for long distance trekking such as Nepal for Mt Everest’s base camp, India’s Himalayan mountains, and Chilean and Argentinian Patagonia. Trail running, hiking, kayaking, snowboarding and other various water and mountain sports are where you will likely find him most of the time locally!
